Most importantly the customer service is the WORST I have experienced...hence, the credit card comment, as that is your only recourse when things go bad, which from the reviews is a lot.
We stayed here for our anniversary. We asked for a river site, which they accommodated. The staff were all very nice and friendly. We got in early so I called to see if we could check in early and they let us. Overall a great stay. My ONLY complaint is that the water to rinse out while using the dump station was broken due to someone running into it the day before. There wasn't a sign letting us know this, so we dumped (wouldn't have, had we known), but it had just happened, so we understood. Overall we were very happy and will probably stay again. Be warned that there are trains that run by in the night, but aren't too bad. The river drowns out the noise for the most part and the location is gorgeous!
Staff were friendly, and the resort seemed really nice. We stayed in a camper cabin. The cabin had bunk beds and a double bed. Loved the porch swing. Intended to stay for two nights, but ended up staying only one night because it was too cold for our kiddos in the cabin. The cabins are primitive (as stated on the website) meaning they don't have heating or AC. If the weather is cold, the cabin will also be cold. You'll be protected from the wind/rain/snow, but the temp will be close to whatever it is outside. Make sure you plan accordingly! If you aren't up for braving a potentially cold night, pay the extra for one of their more equipped cabins.
IF YOU MUST STAY HERE, PAY WITH A CREDIT CARD!!
This is not a nice mountain retreat. The cabins are right on top of each other there is no peace and quiet from the constant running of window units. The beds are so old it will give you a back ache. The bedrooms are so hot in the summer you won't sleep much. the pull out couches in the cabins are worse than the beds. Our group rented out 8 cabins they were all very uncomfortable. The cabins are far from clean when we complained to management about bugs on on the beds it was our fault because we left the doors open. We brought towels to the the office for clean ones two days later after they fell on the floor (the dirty floor) and there was no place to hang them we were told we should have waited for house keeping two days later. When there were mice in one of our cabins it was our fault the new cabin had a broken toilet and broken shower head.Management needs to get off her high horse and treat people who are paying 265.00 a night like a guest not an annoyance. This place has no amenities don't waste your time or your money stay in Glenwood Springs it is only five minutes away. We left a day early we did not get a refund for the last day because we paid in full. This place is a dump and the guest services is better at the local rest area.
Due to a critical medical emergency with my 87 year mother, we had to leave immediately to get back to KC, so we paid our bill, which we did not have time to dispute right then, and left.
A couple days later, after my mom had passed from said medical emergency, I called to explain the situation to Susan to see about getting a refund for the last 3 nights we couldn't use. She told me there was no way (even after speaking to the owner) she could make an exception to their policy. UNBELIEVABLE, I said. So I called my credit card company to dispute the charges, the woman also thought that was unbelievable and didn't think the dispute would be a problem. I called Susan back to let her know of the dispute and that I was going to leave an unfavorable review and she wouldn't even take my call, even/especially after the desk clerk told her why I was calling.
I realize there are only a couple of places to camp in Glenwood Springs (which is why they get away with this) but PLEASE patronize another deserving business. I also noticed there is no place to post a review on their website...I think we know why.
We booked this place for a 5 night stay July 6-10. First of all if you enjoy camping in a parking lot environment you will love it, as the RV's 32 feet and over are assigned to basically a parking lot. To be fair tents have nicer spots by the river.
Nice views and plenty of things to do. Rock climbing wall, deck restaurant and bar, rafting of course. Campsites are pretty close together and parking is limited for the tent sites. Beware of the train noise at all hours of the night. If you can stay asleep with a freight train rolling through your room then you're good!
