My 11-year-old and I spent the weekend in Glenwood Springs for a mother/daughter trip and were lucky enough to find the Mitchell Creek B&B. It is just a short drive from downtown in a secluded, wooded neighborhood with the wonderful sounds of the creek rushing through. The property is like a botanic garden, full of beautiful flowers and hummingbirds, and multiple decks on which you can build a fire and relax and enjoy the scenery. The room was clean, spacious, comfortable, and nicely decorated, with a mini fridge and microwave. We had an amazing gourmet breakfast on the large deck. My daughter was particularly excited when she requested hot chocolate and was presented with several gourmet options as well as her own can of whipped cream. Stan is a wonderful host. On top of his cooking and gardening skills, he has a thorough knowledge of the area restaurants and attractions and is just a very interesting and friendly guy. Such a wonderful experience compared to your average nondescript commercial hotel. I would love to come back with my husband for a romantic getaway.
Stan was very friendly the property is
I am so glad that we found this place. Stan (the owner) is wonderful. He is very friendly, a wealth of knowledge of the area, and provides the best breakfast. The sound of the rushing water from the nearby stream and waterfalls all night was so soothing. His entire area is immaculate and pristine. From what it looks, he has really taken a lot of time to create this fantastic get away. The final 100 yards or so to the house is a pretty steep rock road but my little Honda Civic had not trouble at all with the road. The only reason I am not giving this review 5 stars is because breakfast is served at 9am. Most of the activities that we came to Glenwood Springs for (such as whitewater rafting and guided fly fishing) would start at 9am. So we would have to be at those areas around 8:30am. This means we missed Stan’s breakfast a few mornings. And trust me…. you don’t want to miss his breakfasts. They are simply awesome. Other than that, the only other small this to be aware of is that his rooms do not have air conditioning. I would think they rarely ever need it but we came during a very rare time of the summer where it was still a little warm even when we went to sleep. But I have a feeling is very uncommon. Even with this, I would still highly recommend the “B & B on Mitchell Creek”.

Stan was even kind enough to give us a bottle of wine!
This place is a absolute hidden gem. Tucked way back in the canyon along the creek, it feels years away from anything. The flowers and the hummingbirds and the views were breathtaking.
